WW 2 Veteran dies after nurses ignore his calls for help

This would never happen in a VA facility, like where I volunteer, as veterans are cherished there.
Ron Alexander I don't understand why he was not in a Veterans facility, probably since there is such a negative perception, which is usually political, as there is such a captalist bias to making money in our country. So many do not believe in non profit anything, that everything should be private moneymaking facilities. i am sure his family paid a lot for the private facility he was in, or paid many thousands in insurance before he was admitted. Sure, not all VAs are the best, however, they are better regulated and more open to inquiry since they are government run institutions. The private institutions get away with a lot of abuse, because of their lawyers who pay the survivors a hefty "settlement" to keep them silent, as is the case here.
Grant Trevor: You hit the nail on the head Ron. Oversight in the VA can sometimes feels smothering but it serves the purpose of keeping people and the system honest. A LOT of the trashing of the VA system is ideologically driven, IMO, by partisans opposed to a not for profit health care system. I have worked on both sides of health care - for profit and not for profit - and would choose a universal nonprofit system as superior for patients.
Ron Alexander: Grant is a long time very experienced P. A., and have you not run small mountain medical clinics with no M.D. present? And wasn't that one of the purposes for the P.A. program, shortages of M.D.s"

James Dempsey, 89, called for help six times before he fell unconscious.
