WE ALL SHARE THE AIR
Breathing is a universal process. All vertebrates breathe in essentially the same manner. All living beings exchange their gases in some way or the other. This is one of the reasons that breathing has been chosen as a focus of meditation. The meditator is advised to explore the process of his or her own breathing as a vehicle for realizing our inherent connectedness with the rest of life. This does not mean that we shut our eyes to all the differences around us. Differences do exist. It means simply that we de-emphasize contrasts and emphasize factors that we have in common.
Bhante Gunaratana - Mindfulness in Plain English (Generally considered the clearest of all the mindfulness books)
Ron Alexander When I first traveled to Mono Lake (11 or 12 years ago) in the White Valley in California, the natives of the area were so happy that the lake was filling back up. Finally, they were able to stop Los Angeles from abducting their water. What law worked here? The dry lake was emitting pollution from the minerals at the bottom. Air Pollution was the main legal argument that finally won back their precious water.
Ron Alexander Terri Glass: I recall seeing the tufas there- very interesting place.
