The Joy of Freedom - Happy Independence Day!

While physical freedom, the freedom to move about as wanted, freedom of speech is great, probably the greatest liberty is the freedom of mind and heart. Some of the most free people I have seen is prisoners who meditate deeply using Vipassana (Insight) Meditation.
‎"The living is (free &) easy always if the mind is clear (Vic Blue) and Jeeni Zucchini's "Observation without judgement." Yes!

Not familiar with Vic Blue, but agree that it is much more free & easy when we can remain in that observation without judgement place. Although not always easy, as life has a way of testing our peace & stillness, it is a simple way to flow ...with Life rather than bumping up against everything & creating or perpetuating unnessary friction that the ego mind likes to engage for drama's sake. All for keeping that heavy energy supply going to feed itself so as to remain "alive" & kicking, driving the desires of the form rather than allowing Spirit & Grace to Flow. Somtimes it's difficult to see what it is that is truly triggering that knee-jerk reaction that ego has, but with observing the process from incident to reaction, it helps us to examine the roots of those emotional, reactional events & what the real connection is there. It is always fear (or fear of loss of something) related. Once we can see that, we begin the Path to peace & true freedom, (Liberation).See More

Ra Divakar: thanks Lisa - I think "easy" once in that clear mind space! Though I agree it is not easy to get there most of time - lot of meditation is necessary for me to get to that mindfulness - slow and easy space!
Ron: How to clear mind for free & easy life - ""Free' is not free from feelings, but free to feel each one and let it move on, unafraid of the movement of life. We can apply this to the difficult patterns that arise fo us. We can sense what feeling is at the center of each experience and open to it fully. This is a MOVEMENT (Ron's caps) toward FREEDOM! (My caps and exclamation symbol)

Lisa Gonzales: Emotion, E motion = Energy in Motion. Wise to allow it to rise, sit with it, feel it fully & see it for what it really is without following the pattern directly to the conditioned reaction. Repressing or ignoring emotions would only delay the process & never allow for the peace or clarity that is available.

Jeeni Zucchini: My take on Lisa's statements on Ra's thread is that it was based on a psychological construct. Whereas vipassana allows emotions, thoughts and sankaras to be processed non-specifically... they just come out in the wash... No sitting with it, following patterns, focusing on conditioned reactions, repressing, delaying or intellectualizing... just observation of subconcious sensations.

It took the Whirling Dervishes (started by Rumi) hundreds of years to be able to whirl that Sacred Dance outside of Konya, and there it was limited to a time in midwinte

  • Talking about the country of Turkey outlawing the Whirling Dervishes for that many years.

  • Freedom of Religion - I have been struck traveling around the world how grateful I am to this country about how awesome freedom to practice how we like, and not to mix government with it. Even in England the Anglican church has a stronghold in the Ruling Administration.
