Ron Alexander Thanks again, Sue Niske Willis this post helped me understand why: Why I am Pro-Peace and not anti-war?
As Mother Teresa said, when invited to an anti-war march, "I am not anti - anything. Give me a pro-peace march, and I will be there."
For myself, even though I have had many ancestors and a dear Brother killed in wars, some wars just had to be. The Civil war, WW2 and Korean wars (looking at North Korea's present state) are examples.

KNOW YOUR HISTORY: Memorial Day was started by former slaves on May, 1, 1865 in Charleston, SC to honor 257 dead Union Soldiers who had been buried in a mass grave in a Confederate prison camp. They dug up the bodies and worked for 2 weeks to give them a proper burial as gratitude for fighting for their freedom. They then held a parade of 10,000 people led by 2,800 Black children where they marched, sang and celebrated.

Thanks to Abstrakt Goldsmith for this nugget of history that most of us never learned in school.

Healing the wounds of racism and wars ARE one of our Nation's vital tasks, and this event is an important step. I hope there are many more people (especially white) there next year.
