While it’s good to be informed, watching too much can increase stress.

Plan Developing an emergency plan may make you more feel in control. Pull together an emergency preparedness kit. (The Red Cross has some ideas.)
Be a helper Looking for ways to assist help others, whether through national, community or neighborhood groups, can also benefit the helper
