Oh, I think there can be a balance here. The 'ego" is innocent trying to compensate for a weak sense of self. Wanting some self satisfaction is only human. The "ego" can be a beautiful part of ourselves - it is a necessary part of ourselves, It is a matter of watching and making sure it is in balance- the egotistical person is one who is just trying to feel good about themselves - feel stronger when they are feeling weak. To think the "ego" is some kind of enemy/devil within is simplistic/dualistic! Include the "ego" as part of your unconditional love. It is only trying to help, even if misguided. We cannot be in this world without one!
