"King stood for many things, and at the time he was standing for them, he unabashedly challenged those in power and comfort, be they racist white Southern sheriffs, middle-class blacks who wanted their station in life protected more than they wanted a level playing field for all, or fellow pastors who insisted he accept his lot in this life for gifts that would be awaiting in the next."
