Blessing must arise from within your own mind. It is not something that comes from outside. When the positive qualities of your mind increase and the negativities decrease, that is what blessing means. The Tibetan word for blessing … means transforming into magnificent potential. Therefore, blessing refers to the development of virtuous qualities you did not previously have and the improvement of those good qualities you have already developed. ― Dalai Lama XIV

"United", a conversation with Senator Cory Booker (Is he a VP possibility?)
"United", a conversation with Senator Cory Booker
The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate
Yesterday, we were honored to be joined by Senator Cory Booker and NPR's Tom Ashbrook for a powerful Getting to the Point program. IThe Edward M. Kennedy Institute strives to encourage participatory democracy, invigorate civil discourse, and inspire the next generation of citizens and leaders to engage in the civic lives of their own communities. The subtitle of the Senator's book, United, is "Thoughts on Finding Common Ground and Advancing the Common Good", something that we aim to accomplish with our public programming series.
As Senator Booker said last night, “We have work to do in this country and if you care, if you live passionately, if you believe in the ideals of this nation and see what is going on...sometimes you are going to feel overwhelmed. But don't let your inability to do everything undermine your determination to do something."

Privilege
Timur Berckmans: You can work for something, deserve something, have something and still be privileged, Bryan.
In this day and age, a lot of people work for something, deserve something, and do not have something.
With a wealthy elite tipping the scales, we should not be attacking eachother, or feel attacked when it is not neccessarily the case.

Nothing's been lost, Ron, you've still totally got "it." Hmm?
Nothing's been lost, Ron, you've still totally got "it." It's just that you enrolled in the "Double Advanced Super Thriller Program," at the same time as the "Can't Touch This Life Mastery Class."
Naturally then, since you aren't permitted to remember such choices mid-life, you're a bit startled to see the bar continually being raised on you, even after all you've done.

Yes, I am "startled to see the bar continually being raised" - I will not take it personally, I will not take it personally, I will not take it personally...

"Well, I'm here at the Academy Awards, otherwise known as the White People's Choice Awards."
Chris is right unfortunately...this man is accurately very funny!
"Well, I'm here at the Academy Awards, otherwise known as the White People's Choice Awards."
Chris Rock began his hosting gig at Sunday's Oscars with an intelligent, biting opening monologue that addressed the #OscarsSoWhite controversy head-on. Going into the ceremony, many were wondering how the comedian was going to address the issue, and he answered those questions immediately.

"If they nominated hosts, I wouldn't even get this job," he said. "You'd be watching Neil Patrick Harris."
He also addressed the boycott that some major Black figures in Hollywood, like Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Many people wondered why he hadn't quit the hosting gig as part of the protest, which he thought was ludicrous.
"I thought about quitting," he revealed. "I thought about it real hard. They're gonna have the Oscars anyway, and they're not going to cancel them because I quit. And the last thing I need is to lose another job to Kevin Hart."
"Jada [Pinkett-Smith] boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's panties: I wasn't invited," he continued.

Single Payer Health Care System Attacked - Toni and Ra Respond!
Single Payer Health Care System Attacked - Toni and I Respond!
Ra Divakar: Key comment: Be suspicious of any claims that this is straight forward because a different kind of system works elsewhere! YES, ISSAC, SINGLE-PAYER WORKS IN MANY COUNTRIES THAT HAVE SO MUCH BETTER HEALTHCARE THAN OURS. RESEARCH FIRST BEFORE YOU GO OFF WITH THE RIGHT WING AGENDA WHO Degrenate it!
Toni Boutwell :For profit healthcare is the worst kinf=d, this is why we need single payer and controlled cost. I lost count of how many times my late spouse and I had to go to Canada for medicine, it was cheaper to fly to Maine and ride in woth friends, stay a weekend in hotels and get 3 months of medicine than to get one month here
Ra Divakar: Yes, I worked in hospitals as they were brought up by for Profit HMO's. These were mostly public hospitals paid for by taxpayers, and were not meant to make a profit, Now in this state, they are graded on how much money they make - that is a SICK SYSTEM. The hospitals in the poorest counties where they need public healthcare most, are being closed down because they are not making a profit. In Calfornia, the taxpayers are revolting and gettiing their own hospitals back by firing the politicians who sold out. This will happen everywhere once people wake up and Bernie Sanders is helping people AWAKE! THANK YOU BERNIE YOU MAY NOT WIN HOWEVER YOUR IDEAS WILL WIN IN THE LONG RUN! WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Have a Glorious Saturday even in our "broken" world
As i walked down the avenue, the late afternoon sun was turning the lovely and dying sycamore leaves into fragments of brilliant stained glass, and i said to myself, "This alone is worth the price of admission to our broken and glorious world."

First Create Your Own Life
It is true that we are called to create a better world. But we are first of all called to a more immediate and exalted task: that of creating our own lives.

What I need most is always at hand - I LET MY OWN LIGHT SHINE
Ron, always, that which you most need is already at hand. It's just your present belief in its absence that keeps it from view.

The Veterans History Project (My present work interveiwing by video WW11 vets)
The United States Congress created the Veterans History Project (VHP) as part of American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
The mission of the Veterans History Project is to collect, preserve, and make worthwhile the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the reality of war.

Republicans will never give President Obama the credit he deserves, even when it includes helping out members of the military.
William C. Miller: And this surprises you why. The GOP is so racist that the President could walk across the Reflecting Pool in front of the entire nation and the GOP would cry foul.
