Don't always expect God to perform a supernatural miracle

Have you ever heard of the story of the man and the flood? The man asked God to save him when the river overflowed. A rescue truck came by and the rescuer said, "Let's go." The man said, "No, I trust in God to save me." The water level rose... and the man climbed to his roof and a rescuer in a boat came by and said, "Let's go." The man said, "No, I trust God to save me."

The water level rose and a helicopter came by and a rescuer dropped him a rope and said, "Let's go." The man said no and soon drowned. When he stood before God he said, "God, I trusted you to save me and you let me die." God responded, "I didn't let you die; you did that yourself. I sent you a truck, a boat and a helicopter and you refused them all."

It is not our duty to determine how God answers our prayers or directs our lives. Our duty is to be aware of the many ways that God communicates with us through symbols, visions, sounds and people. We are the hands, arms, legs, eyes, ears and voice of God in the natural world. Don’t always expect God to perform a supernatural miracle. Look for His solutions first in the natural world! ~Dean A.
