Day 21 - Liiving Perfect Health

"We must each lead a way of life with self-awareness
and compassion, to do as much as we can. Then,
whatever happens we will have no regrets."
—His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama

Welcome to Day 21—Living Perfect HealthCongratulations! Today is the final day of our 21-Day Meditation Challenge™, and you now have all the tools to live perfect health!
We hope that you share our deep appreciation for all that we've experienced through our discussions and daily meditations. Being thankful for what we have in our lives is an important part of our journey to perfect health. Gratitude helps clear away the noise of our egos and allows us to connect more deeply with our inner wisdom.
As we move forward on our individual paths, remember how important it is to spend time with friends and family. Sharing what we learn also enables us to build a supportive community, which is essential to creating a positive lifestyle.
Our centering thought for today is:

I create my perfect health.
We are so grateful for our time with you.
Blessings,
(Oprah and Deepak)

MINDFUL MOMENT
Sustain the habit of writing in your gratitude journal and continue writing all the things for which you're thankful every day. Take time each week to review what you've written to truly appreciate the gifts your life offers you.

Today's Centering Thought:
I create my perfect health.
Our Sanskrit mantra:
Sat Chit Ananda
Existence, Consciousness, Bliss.

The "devil" made you do it? Or the "ego"?

Or was it your "dreaded ego"? Your "mind"? Your "survival instincts"?  Most of us do not believe in the "devil" anymore. The "ego" is a popular scapegoat, but it is just a word invented by Freud, who considered it the "conscious bridge" from the id (instinctual brain) to the "Higher Self ", he called the  "superego". Gary Zukav calls the ego our "earth guide" - we could not live on earth without it.
The "mind" is not our brain, and is even equated to the soul or our consciousness by some theologians, so we can't blame it.

"How to Tell Your Brain What to Do"

It is vital to have your mind tell your brain what to do. Otherwise, your brain will give you information that isn't necessarily true, or true anymore. It is your responsibility to tell your brain what to do. By doing this, you are actually telling your mind to tell your brain what to do and the resultant effect is whatever you tell your mind to tell your brain, your brain will accordingly react. Nothing less. Nothing more. Try it as long as it takes you to understand this message. At that point you will have crossed over. You will be in a space where you have never been before. Here, in this space, you can totally control your life and make it the way you want it to be!

-Donald L. Vasicek
Bruce Lee, the world renown martial artist, said, As you think, so shall you become. Bruce was acknowledging the power of the human mind to ...

THIS IS THE KICKER - BLAME IT ON YOUR THINKING NOT THE MIND OR THE EGO OR INSTINCTS

The title is influenced by a verse in the Bible from the Book of Proverbs chapter 23 verse 7, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” ... will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment, of these, if you but remain true to them your world will at last be built. ... Right thinking begins with the words we say to ourselves.

Thoughts are things, and it
is important to keep our
thoughts of a spiritual
nature, to put attention on
living a life that is a clear
step toward growth. —Harold Klemp The Language of Soul

Angie Pennington In the best of ego-individuated worlds it's why we're individuals : to help one another. Gradually we navigate to where All Is Love and planes in which there is no need for even saying "Thank You" or "You're very welcome", because All Is Gratitude.... and The Light just plays!  Thanks I know what you mean Angie, however this is my belief: Poor ol "ego' - no part of me is junk! And the ego is a word invented by Freud to be the CONSCIOUS bridge between the "id" our primal self and the "superego" (Higher Self). Gary Zukav calls it our "Earth Guide" . We could not function in our body here on Earth without it. Now, I am sure it will be different when we leave our body, but until then it is dualistic at best to demonize the "ego". I think of it as like a little child that we have to be aware of what our thoughts are (even about "ego")! We are all perfect WHOLE BEINGS!

Grateful Gracefulness without Ceasing

Every breath we draw is a gift of God's love; every moment of existence is a grace.
Thomas Merton(gratefulness.org)
Thoughts in Solitude

Richard Kent Matthews In spiritual terms, God's grace is meted out to the creature, not for any particular reason but for love alone. Nothing required in return, not even gratitude. But when one understands the outpouring of grace, one is grateful spontaneously.
Richard Kent Matthews Anyway, Happy Ostara!
Ron Alexander LIKE: But when one understands the outpouring of grace, one is grateful spontaneously. Ah, grand vision the cup "overflowing" with Love the Grace of God - spontaneous gratefulness - it just flows out from you...thanks so much Richard Kent Matthews

Day 20 - LIVING AGELESSLY

"Wrinkles should merely indicate where the smiles have been." —Mark Twain
Welcome to Day 20—Living AgelesslyToday, we explore the concept of living agelessly. It may be challenging to see ourselves as ageless beings that grow in wisdom and spiritual fulfillment in each passing moment. Yet, living in the present enables us to literally stop time. Meditation helps ground us in the present and, physiologically, increases growth hormones, which slow down the external signs of aging.
As we engage in activities that bring us joy and choose to live from an open-heart awareness, we approach our lives with a new, positive perspective and truly live agelessly.
Our centering thought for today is:
I am ageless and timeless.
We look forward to enjoying the stillness with you today.

Blessings,
(Oprah and Deepak)

MINDFUL MOMENT
Consider an activity that really excites you. Make the commitment to engage in that activity for some time every day. Witness how time stands still when you indulge your passion and you become firmly rooted in the present.

 I am ageless and timeless.
I am perfect. At age 68, when I can feel like that, it is bliss! And I am going to do more of what it takes to feel like that. More meditation, more yoga, more gentle aerobics, more juicing, more things that help me be in the moment like creativity and being of service, more inspiration and support from wonderful teachers like Oprah and Deepak! I am so grateful!

Today's Centering Thought:
I am perfect - ageless and timeless.
Our Sanskrit mantra:Aham Brahmasmi The core of my being is the ultimate reality, the root and ground of the universe, the source of all that exists.

Every birthday is a blessing. Celebrate every moment with vigor and gratitude. Oprah

It is good to get out of line sometimes

"I was walking up to this paradise of nature, that I wanted to visit, and noticed a long line of disgruntled complaining people waiting at a gate. I was getting anxious and looked around and noticed there was no fence with these paths leading into this beautiful forest. So, with a smile, I gratefully bypassed the line and walked directly in. A few people in line noticed me and looking pleased followed me. The rest stayed behind looking agitated and suspicious. Sometimes it is good to get out of line." Ron Alexander

MIriam StJohn I wonder if that is a universal theme, Ron. I had a vision in which I was walking toward the Holy Temple wherein was the inner sanctuary, Holy of Holies. There were openings under columns all along the way that I could have walked through, yet I walked the long distance to the one gate to walk through that. Fascinating
Ron Alexander Yes, MIriam StJohn,I think it is a vision of choice - follow the sheep or not?
exander I think this vision was inspired by a housemate in California, who while I was waiting in line in Whole Foods waiting for some delicious looking samples, walked to the front of the line with a big smile greeting everyone as long lost friends, and got to sample way before I did. Plus she made some new friends, and nobody was upset with her (except me a little, but all went away, when I met her new friends).
MIriam StJohn Well, that's bringing down to the natural, ain't it? LOL. Here in Boston she would have run into trouble cutting the line.

Ron Alexander Miriam St. John, I think not, she did it so gracefully, and it was not a clear straight line! I think we can get into a state of Being, where we can do about anything, if we are not being pushy or anything like that. I have tested this theory by waiting outside of very expensive events, with a big smile on my face (and a positive visualization), and invariably there will be somebody with an extra ticket who wants company.

Gratitude Can do a Lot

Wiser Now

Day 19 - Living Optimism(My Life Unfolds in Divine Order)

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."—Anne Frank

Thanks Lee Harrington:
This morning, as I sat in meditation on the shores of the Hudson River, I had one of those moments when I could truly experience the Great Perfection of this world. The air was warm (finally!) and the river was almost still, so that the sunlight sparkled off its surface. It was so beautiful. Even when an old tire floated by--a reminder of all the pollution our Hudson has suffered--I realized that this was part of the perfection, too. All will be well.

Welcome to Day 19—Living OptimismToday, we discuss what it truly means to live a life full of optimism.
We become what we believe and, as we've learned, remaining positive sends our bodies loving messages that are crucial to maintaining good health. By being grateful for all that we have, we can move our egos aside and live the lives we were meant to live, full of enthusiasm for the present moment and confident about our futures.
By fostering an inner dialogue that is most nurturing to us, we support the clear vision we have for ourselves and live our lives in alignment with our true purpose.
Our centering thought for today is:
My life unfolds in divine order.
We look forward to meditating with you today.
Blessings,
Oprah & Deepak

MINDFUL MOMENT
If you are not doing so already, begin to keep a gratitude journal. Each morning or evening, take stock of your life and write down those things for which you are truly thankful.
Today's Centering Thought:
My life unfolds in divine order.
Our Sanskrit mantra:
Om Daksham Namah
My actions achieve maximal benefit with minimal effort.

Everything is how it needs to be right now. Look past the illusion and see underlying order.

Our bodies react to our thoughts.
We don't become what we want, we come what we believe. Oprah
Optimal health comes from a postive outlook!
Living Optimism allows us to living full expectations to our nourishing lifestyle.

If you scream good things, the world will give it back.
If you scream bad things, the world will give it back.

Da 18 - Living Passion

"Freedom lies in being bold." —Robert Frost
Welcome to Day 18—Living PassionPassion is energy. It's the power that comes from focusing on what really excites you. When we live with enthusiasm, we fully engage our brains and bodies in our activities, building new pathways that foster health and wellbeing.
One way to ensure that we live our lives with passion is to find our dharma, our life's true purpose, through which we can serve our community and ourselves in deeply meaningful ways. Engaging in life in this way helps keep our minds active and sharp and strengthens our relationships with everyone we meet.
Our centering thought for today is:
I live my life with passion and enthusiasm.
We enthusiastically await our time together today.
Blessings,
Oprah and Deepak

MINDFUL MOMENT
Begin to connect with your true life's purpose. Before each meditation, ask yourself, "How can I help? How can I serve?" Then, listen to your heart for the answer

Today's Centering Thought:
I live my life with passion and enthusiasm.
Our Sanskrit mantra:
Om Varunam Namah
My life is in harmony with cosmic law.

It was good reflecting back to time when I was passionate. Probably the most passionate job I had was working with life-threatened young adults at Jerry Jampolsky's Center for Attitudinal Healing. I took them on many field trips and they loved it - these kids with aids and cancer lived in the present better than anybody, so they were great to be around. Maybe, I can do something with elders and disabled or hospice as I heal? Just these memories are building up my passion, thank you again Deepak, Oprah and staff!
This unusually very cold spring has me forgetting about my passion for sailing and helping take vets. out on Veterans on Deck (especially for those with PTSD).

Meditation - the Art of Returning

"Trying to push thoughts away will not work, just observe the passing thoughts, senses, sounds, let them go and keep returning to your breath. Meditation is the art of returning! Whatever you resist persists.                        Ron Alexander

There are some people who say that the way to meditate on emptiness is simply to empty our mind of all conceptual thoughts, arguing that just as white clouds obscure the sun as much as black clouds, so positive conceptual thoughts obscure our mind as much as negative conceptual thoughts. This view is completely mistaken, for if we make no effort to gain a conceptual understanding of emptiness, but... try instead to suppress all conceptual thoughts, actual emptiness will never appear to our mind. We may achieve a vivid experience of a space-like vacuity, but this is just the absence of conceptual thought – it is not emptiness, the true nature of phenomena. Meditation on this vacuity may temporarily calm our mind, but it will never destroy our delusions nor liberate us from samsara and its sufferings. ~ p. 115 (Modern Buddhism)

that we can finally hear the whispers of truth that life reveals to
us, as it stands knocking on the doorsteps of our hearts.

Day 17 - Living Creativity Blissfully Free

"You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation." —Plato

Welcome to Day 17—Living CreativityToday, we explore our creative spirit. As long as we remain open to new possibilities and a willingness to escape our routines, we can enjoy lifelong creativity. Letting go opens the door to new discoveries and enables us to feel truly alive.
Enjoy opportunities to explore without outside opinions or artificial boundaries. Do those things that make time disappear and witness the boundless joy that flows to you.
Our centering thought for today is:

Through rest and play, I open my creative channel.

We look forward to creating with you in stillness today.
Blessings,
(Oprah and Deepak)

MINDFUL MOMENT
Set aside time today to be totally free to express yourself. Find a quiet space, gather the tools you need, and just enjoy what happens. Notice how you feel after you've spent some time doing what you love.

Today's Centering Thought:
Through rest and play, I open my
creative channel.

Our Sanskrit mantra:
Om Anandham Namah
My actions are blissfully free from attachment to outcome

Blissfully Free: love those words from the mantra -
Om Anandham Namah
(My actions are blissfully free from attachment to outcome.)
That is how I feel when letting go in my creative/play outlets Blissfully Free is how I want to be - more and more. thanks, Deepak, Oprah and staff!

Elsa Dickson Pike · Works at Claiming my Divinity in every moment
Today's meditation was the most powerfully moving one yet. In my ongoing journey toward self-acceptance and self-expression, today's meditation was enormously helpful and enlightening. T
he idea that rest and play are important steps toward creativity is a new one, somehow, though I don't know why it should be. And the meaning of today's mantra Om Anandham Namah - My actions are blissfully free from attachment to outcome is groundbreaking in its implications, having the intended and truly blissful effect of bringing me effortlessly back into the present moment and I believe, to the true purpose of meditation itself. So, so awesome! Namasté

Dear Ron,Today's message in "Living Creativity" is filled with such natural and transformational potential. When we are playful and having fun, we are truly living with present moment awareness. It's in these most joyful and carefree times that we allow the space for the "aha" moments and life-changing ideas to appear.
Let's take a moment and check in with ourselves right now.

  • Was there laughter in your day?
  • How did you express your unique gifts and talents?
  • What did you do that was playful or relaxing?
  • Was there a moment where you decided to just go with the flow?
Just "be" with your answers, without judgment. Then gently take a deep breath, and when you exhale, let all tension flow out of your body—just let it go. On your next inhalation, we invite you to consider a new intention: choose a light-hearted approach each moment in the coming days, allowing yourself permission to not take yourself too seriously.
We wish you a day filled with ease, self-care, and abundant joy.

Blessings,

RISE! Another way of looking at Easter metaphysically is the resurrecting consciousness that is within you and me. We have that consciousness, that ability to RISE above challenges. The spiritual wherewithal if you will. I would much rather hear that on Sundays, right?
During Sunday's message, I will be sharing with you 3 powerful stories of people whose resurrection consciousness dramatically improved their lives.

Subject: CONGRATULATIONS! You've completed the 16-day Healthy Custom Cleanse!

I missed you this AM upon return of jars. I tried on old pairs of jeans - one fit - a size 38, which means I lost 6 inches on waist. The most important thing is that I have that increased core energy, not the hyper caffienated type but Prana - Life Force. I am continuing to fast for a while. I don't have desire for whole foods right now, we will see at the typical mid-afternoon lull? Also, I did not take any pain pills during this time or vitamins for that matter. Thanks for the great quotes and inspiration.   A friend of mine told me that her Father an artist had a "rheumatoid arthritis" so bad that he could not lift a paint brush and he went through a cleansing juice fast for 2 weeks then spent 4 more days in a "clean" room where everything was sterile and fresh oxygen was pumped in. And now he is painting better than ever. His MD told him that arthritis is a "modern" disease caused by toxins in our food, water and environment
No mistake, ron
Dear Ron, I want to take a moment to commend you for making it through (with flying colors) your 16-Day Healthy Custom Cleanse! I know I've said this before, but your journey is soo inspirational to me and it has been a pleasure to join you during your cleanse. I will miss your cheerful greetings every morning! Maybe down the line you will do it again :-) Let's keep in touch, and always feel free to contact me via phone or e-mail. Best of luck to you! Should you decide that you are interested in taking part in the 6-month program, I am happy to talk to you more about this. You can also get a good idea of the program on my website, joducey.com. Take care! Leaving you with a few more quotes I thought you might enjoy: People are like stained-glass windows.
