Louis Waring Jr., who this Center is named after is an outstanding man and WW 2 Veteran. Survivor of the Port Chicago Disastor, the worst domestic disaster during the WW2 era. I have been privileged to interview this highly successful man for the Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress.

Monday, Mayor Tecklenburg, members of Charleston City Council, Roper St. Francis and the Waring family participated in the groundbreaking for the Louis Waring, Jr. Senior Center (Waring Senior Center).
