Sunday at the Show

To celebrate our 25th anniversary we are extending this year’s show to Sunday. Check here often for event updates.
Wooden Boat Exhibit  11 am – 4 pmClassic wooden boats ranging in size from kayaks to yachts will be displayed in the water, along the boardwalk and on Front street. Visitors will be able to meet and talk to wooden boat craftsmen, manufacturers and owners. Maritime art, crafts, models and educational exhibits will also be on display.

Master Boatbuilders Challenge  11 am – 3 pm | Sponsored by Berlin G. Myers Lumber Corp
We are inviting all past challenge winners to compete in a “special” competition. The teams will be given the same materials as the Saturday challenge, but can build any boat they wish. Four hour time limit, quality weighted heavy. This should be a great event. Boatbuilding will begin at 11 am to give the teams time to put their boats in the water before the show’s end at 4 pm.

Wooden Opti Pram Regatta  11 am - 4 pmThis event is open to sailors 8 to 15 years of age. There is no fee to sail. Races will be held on the hour from 11 am until 4 pm from the docks at Francis Marion Park. Sailors will need to arrive at check-in 15 minutes prior to their race with a USCG approved life jacket and dressed for the weather. Group photos will be taken prior to each heat and then sailors will be escorted down to the docks and our volunteer will review the course with them. The Regatta is organized by the SC Youth Sailing Program and the Winyah Bay Sailing Club. REGISTER NOW: Click here to go to a Google Docs Registration Form. Just open the doc, put your name in a time slot, then exit the doc. You can get back into the dock at any time to check your time or change your time.

Bloody Marys & Mimosas at the SC Maritime Museum   Noon – 3 pmOpen to the public. $20 per person at the door. Bloody Marys, mimosas, bagels, pastries and a fabulous view from the back deck of the museum.

Ensemble performance by the Winyah Indigo Chorale Society   1 – 2 pmThis ensemble performance by the locally acclaimed Winyah Indigo Society, conducted by Thom Martin, will take place under the tent beside the SC Maritime Museum. The concert is our gift to the community for 25 years of support for the Georgetown Wooden Boat Show

Nautical Tales  2 – 4 pm
Join salty sailors Ron Alexander and Robert “Mac” McAlister for some good old fashioned maritime story telling. Tales will be told under the tent beside the Maritime Museum. Ron Alexander is a former professional sailing captain and Marine Science teacher. He has written several children’s books and wrote a column for the Beaufort, N. C. Gam called “Maritime Memories”. Now retired, he sails with Veterans on Deck and is a member of the Back Porch Story Tellers in Charleston. Mac McAlister has sailed extensively with his wife, Mary, and their three sons. He is a writer, a historian and a board member of the SC Maritime Museum. His classic sailboat, EXODUS, has won several awards at the Georgetown Wooden Boat Show.
