Ron Alexander Well, I think a "hedonist" really wants Heaven on Earth too. I know I did!

 

Theda Parks So.. did you find what you were looking for?

 

Ron Alexander I have found in my seeking that true pleasure is Bliss found from Meditation/prayer which includes sensory awareness, thanks Theda, I enjoy this type of dialogue.

 

Theda Parks So.. perhaps there was some kind of comparison going on at a subconscious level. Some years ago, I met an interesting man from Mexico who taught Gnosticism, and he once told me that 'chastity' did not mean 'abstinence'. Now.. give him a little slack here because of the language differences. What he said is that it meant "not mixing your energy with a lot of different people". That part was crystal clear (no pun intended).

Theda Parks Yes. And he talked about that too. He was an extremely humble man. I found out he and his wife lived in the Chicago area for about nine years before moving to Baltimore. He used to do exorcisms, and he taught me about testing energy in a room. He and his wife practiced the Tantric positions to experience the spiritual aspect of that union. He admitted it was difficult for a man to keep himself in that mindset when the natural response was to complete the act.

Ron Alexander I was enamored of the Tantra philosophy as taught by Osho, and started to hang out with some of his followers. However, I was disappointed by some of them becoming involved with some really kinky sex. Not all of them, some started movement classes and I really enjoyed Spirit Dance in California which is kind of a let-go yoga dance - very therapeutic.

The tantric way of sex can be very uplifting however as your friend said - hard to maintain...

 

Ron Alexander Oh, I still enjoy Spirit dance, however I have not found a studio around here yet. Once I do, I will rejoin...

Theda Parks Must be something in the Charleston area. Anyone in Unity know someone/somewhere?

Ron Alexander Used to be one near here and one over in Mt. Pleasant, and there is a new dance group at Unity, but all women and with not the same attitude as Spirit Dancers! Hopefully, one will show up though - fun way to stay in shape and enjoy the senses and join with others too!
