The Art of Making Mistakes Wakefully

I try to remind myself that we are never promised anything,
and that what control we can exert is not over the events
that befall us but how we address ourselves to them.

Ra Divakar: To undertake a genuine spiritual journey is not to avoid difficulties but to learn the art of making mistakes wakefully, to bring them the transformative power of our heart. Jack Kornfield

Gene Yakub: Ron, may I comment as follows without being intrusive, judgemental? It seems as if you may be feeling unappreciated? Your earlier post asking why you should bother caring plus the last two seem to indicate that you feel let down by others and that you are hurting. Without knowing why or prying, maybe you have allowed yourself to be afflicted by a dependency on others that happens to us when we need affirmations from them about our value and for feeling good. I'm sure you really know that this is a dangerous weakness, everyone has their own baggage to carry through life and their own commitments so logically expecting those affirmations is asking for disappointment, isn't it? All peace, well-being, strength can only be found within, as I'm sure you especially actually know. In this time of enormous changes at all levels, we must do our utmost to remain self-sufficient and connected to our higher selves which, I know, is easier said than done but I know you can do it!
