Blessing Hearts

I will order cedar hearts that will have "Be a Blessing" carved on it. and they will be sold to benefit needy children. I wrote this little "ditty" below as kind of a country song with a "inspirational" theme hopefully.

Be A Blessing
Now I am confessing
Most of my life I haven't been a blessing.

Given the Lord's Free Will.
I have found I have a choice -
Curse or rejoice.

I choose - I can lose or
If I refrain from being a curse,
I can gain.

Every morning I decide
Go against the tide
Or joyously ride.

Sometimes it feels like
Its not in my hands.
That's true, so I surrender
And remember, "This is the day
The Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in It."

And that's every day.
I can choose to be a blessing

Sometimes its confusing and it's irony
By surrendering, I can be free.

I must remember its my choice
To curse or rejoice.

I will keep on confessing and
Deciding to be a blessing
.

Blessed are the children, who will lead the way.

THANK YOU, GOD, FOR CHILDREN-YOUR VISION FOR GREATER GOOD IN THE WORLD

Children-what a blessing they are in my life. From their innocence, purity, freedom, and guileless natures, I learn to take one day, one moment, at a time.

Children are my guides through the maze of life's mysteries. I bless these wonderful miracles in my life, children who are my teachers, my reminders that each moment can be a new beginning.

Whereever they are, whatever they are doing, these young ones are growing, learning, and adapting to the environment in which they live. Giving thanks for all the children, I appreciate them as God's vision for the greater good in the world.

"But take care and watch yourselves closely, so as neither to forget the things that your eyes have seen not to let them slip from your mind all the days of your life; make them known to your children and your children's children." Daily Word 41 (Sept. 26, 2007)

The Powerful Blessings of Prayers

After writing the previous post, I received this email from Angela (truly an angel) Baker, the well-known gospel singer: God works in mysterious wonderful ways

There is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's continue to pray for one another.

The prayer:
Father, I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those that I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of Your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace. Where there is need, I ask you to fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings. In Jesus' precious name. Amen.

The following is from Daily Word for Sept. 06, 2007
I Accept My Good and Then Pass It On a Blessing to Others
PASS IT ON
I have been blessed with people who have been my positive role models and mentors.
Through the contributions of these thoughtful people, I have learned about loving and caring for others, the importance of sharing the resources available to me with those in need, the joy of giving a kind gesture to someone who needs a caring touch.
Those who have treated me with respect and dignity have taught me the importance of embracing all people who inhabit our world. There are those I do bless, as I pass on the love, respect and kindness I have received. The actions I take today have the potential to change a life for the better. My personal, sacred mission is to pass on to others the peace, love, hope and joy within me.
The Lord is faithful in all his words, and gracious in all his deeds. Psalm 145:13

Inquiry -

What are you not doing, dear one that you wish you were ?
xx/h

Dear Hanna Angel, that is a good question. Accepting that I am in the perfect place at the perfect time, I am catching more and more glimpses of joyous peace in my life. I am so grateful to be here now, that I answer your question with this question: How can I maintain my presently growing sense of being a blessing to myself as well as to others?

I think the answer is in continuing to consciously turnaround my thoughts from any that hurt to those that bless with my words and actions reflecting my merciful thoughts.

Thank you Hanna Angel, keep up with the inquiry, Ron

When you meet anyone, remember it is a Holy encounter. As you see him you will see yourself. As you treat him you will treat yourself. As you think of him you will think of yourself. Never forget this, for in him you will find yourself or lose yourself. T, 132

Be A Blessing

We have God-given Free Will. This powerful truth means we can consciously choose to be a blessing or a curse to those around us and the world. However, moment to moment awareness of this truth means we need tools to change our old negative, fearful, victim type of thinking.
"It is only when the intellect is no longer obstructed by negative emotional reactions arising out of the experience of doubt and fear"(Ernest Holmes) that one can become a blessing to oneself and those around them.
How can we transform this "doubt and fear" to certainty and courage?
The Bible has wonderful verses that contradict victim-like thinking - one of my favorite is: "God did not give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind." I recommend memorizing powerful verses like this and use it very often
like "Praying without Ceasing".
This is similar to meditation with a mantra, where one uses a powerful word or phrase over and over often combined with watching the breath. Examples of these "mantras" are as simple as LOVE, PEACE, JOY, or Be A Blessing. Like a lot of my friends, I have had a hard time with compulsive talking so I use "Need say nothing" over and over.

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 1John4:7

You a being blessed by every beneficent thought of any of your brothers anywhere. T,66

Divine Love, through me, blesses and multiplies all that I desire to give and all that I am willing to receive. (Unity affirmation)

Be Blessed & Be a Blessing, Ron

Bless Your Hearts

How can one choose to be a blessing to those around you rather than a curse?
This is the purpose of this new website.

Blessed are the Peacemakers
Anti-war or Peace Activist Ron Alexander
Peacemaking - How can you "make" peace? How can you make people have peace? Lord, I have tried and tried. I have posted on blogs, sent many emails, letters to editors, made sarcastic remarks, argued, prayed, attended peace vigils, and marched in anti-war parades.
My dear Brother was killed in Viet Nam, quite an impetus to be a “peacemaker”. I was in the Army, and because of him, not in Viet Nam. Barry volunteered to pilot medivac copters, a dangerous mission, as he wanted to save lives rather than kill. He loved the Vietnamese, and all people, that I know of………he was a special beautiful person?
Going to the Viet Nam War Memorial (The Wall), while participating in a Peace March, and getting Barry’s smudge (trace of his name) was a very cathartic experience for me. The long peace march to the shadow of the Pentagon was like flowing in a tide of wonderful humanity, including many youth and Iraq vets and their families. Sure there were radicals from both sides, but overall, walking in peace united in purpose with a large group was wonderful and healing.
When I have found myself in a fighting-rebellious atmosphere in my family and workplace often “making peace" has been like beating my head against the wall. Interestingly, in the old times, guns were called “peacemakers”.
So If I can't "make" peace, what can I do? How can I be a peace blessing to my friends, my community, my family, and the world? I bless myself with a peace of mind first, and then bless others by bringing them my peace - not my arguments, sarcasm and anti-war opinions. It is helpful, to not resist their ideas but listen thoughtfully, ask gentle questions, with possibly a subtle hopefully humorous rebuttal, or at best remain silent and radiate my love and peace . I joyously expect to be the "blessed peace giver"! This newly found philosophy has been much more successful than trying to be a peacemaker, at least to my own peace of mind. Being peaceful takes constant attention for me. If I find that I am having angry fearful thoughts, I go to work on my thinking. My favorite tools are reading inspirational literature, such as theUnity Daily Word, and journal inspirational sentences & affirmations daily. Moment to moment, I find peace within by praying without ceasing. This deep peace at the center of my being radiates outward to all that I meet and beyond! I am so grateful!
