Ron Alexander: If rent free, I would try it for awhile, but not for long. I slept in a house close to the ocean at Bolinas, Ca. that was too close at certain high tides, the waves would rock the house, and then I could not sleep there...especially being a former sailor where waves hitting beach is a sound of danger!
I also, after living on a boats for years, rented a cabin on beautiful Mt. Tamalpais overlooking Muir Woods and the Pacific Ocean. After two straight "100 year" storms of over 100 miles per hour, I moved off that precipice, realizing water is much softer than land - especially the rocks all over the cliff in front of me. No, I would not stay over a night even if free, as I could probably not sleep that night!
