Defending the Ego

You are welcome dear Reverend Ed,

Ego "defending" is more like it. I am rereading Michael Singer, as I am having more and more of those blissful "God like" moments he describes thankfullyt, He describes the "ego" as trying to balance the id and superego (Freudian). Pema in AWAKENING LOVING-KINDNESS writes "...the idea is not to get rid of it but actually begin to take an interest in ourselves, to investigate and be inquisitive about ourselves." Personally, I really believe in "the beginners mind", hence "Divine Inquiry". Does the ego align with the Divine? I think it is innocent and neutral. Our thinking (even about the ego) is where we have a choice. Is our thinking peaceful, joyful or loving? Anyway still inquiring, thanks for all your "beyond belief" messages. It is the experience that counts and Michael Singer in UNTETHERING OF THE SOUL affirms that. That was our first book for book club, and I hope we keep building on that in a Mindful way!
                                                                                                                    Love, ron
