ONE RACE, THE HUMAN RACE, WE ARE ALL ONE PEOPLE
Some excellent community building/education came from this event, Lorna Gethers Coakley is an especially talented performer. She is in the middle, at the left is her partner, Dmitri. I am peeking out to the left of him, behind the brilliant poet Marcus Amaker, who led the event. Lorna and Dmitri are the ones I met on the Bridge to Unity and Bridge to Peace Unity Chain for Emanuel AME Church chanting ONE RACE, THE HUMAN RACE, WE ARE ALL ONE PEOPLE. We taught that to this wonderful group of poets, writers, and performers. Plus she performed a couple of powerful passionate poems in a dramatic way. I consider that the conclusion afterwards was how important communication and education are as a solution to racial divisions!

One City – One Heart took place on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Circular Church and was attended by over a dozen local writers and poets who came together to write and read and talk about community in the aftermath of the slaughter at Mother Emanuel…
