Terry and Akasha - cosmic dialogue:

  • Terry Orr "Who in their right mind would take their hand on it?". Trouble is, there are a fair number not in their "right minds" and many of those would have no qualms about slapping the person in the face who says "I love and forgive you". Such is the deep-seated ignorance present in the miserable.

  • Akasha Desa We are all in our right Mind Terry - it's just that "many of those" you speak of appear to not want to use it... they'd rather make one up on their "own" for a while. Bless them anyway. Clarity is inherent in all.

  • Terry Orr Akasha. Probably a distinction not worth debating, but an ignorant mind is not a "right mind" any more than an unhealthy body is a "right body". Ultimately, I suppose we could say that everything is just exactly as it should be, but in the pragmatic reality of separated existence, this is not the case. What is the purpose of 'enlightenment'? The only purpose is to overcome misery. As such, misery is not 'right'; because it is to be overcome.

    • Akasha Desa Have you gone back to the beginning that you are looking for the end? Know Thy Self - heart emoticon
    • Terry Orr That's too Zen for me and is one of the primary distinctions between Zen and other forms... smile emoticon
    • Akasha Desa The "purpose of enlightenment" is to Know Thy Self. You say "the pragmatic reality of separated existence" - there is no "reality" to seperated existance. Existance is not separate. You/Self is "ALL" - "If you see your self in others, then whom can you harm?"
    • Terry Orr You are saying the same thing as I am with regard to the purpose of enlightenment. Whether overcoming misery, or to know Thy self. It's the same thing.

As for separated existence, there is the pragmatic reality that we are separated. This is why we u
se words to describe you, me, this, that etc.

That is the practical 'reality' of living in a material body comprised of individual atoms. However, in the 'ultimate reality', it can be said that all things are inter-related and that there is no separation per se. It's important to make the distinction - otherwise we are just fooling ourselves with fantasy mind games.

    • Akasha Desa I am not confined to "living in a body comprised of individual atoms" - and neither are U. Call that "fantasy" if U like. Reality is either "Ultimate" or it isn't Reality. - I beg to differ on the "purpose of enlightenment. "Suffering" is a symptom and not a Cause - Cause for the symptom of suffering is "confusion" - not knowing your Self. When you do - the symptom is no more. Blessings & Thank U Terry.
    • Terry Orr Akasha, next time you think you are not confined to a body comprised of atoms, try walking through a solid wall. Your body will tell you otherwise. That is the "reality" of separated existence and it follows the laws of material physics. As far as the purpose of enlightenment, we are just getting caught up in words and essentially we are agreeing.
