My New Volunteer Position at VA - Hospice (my first choice)

Bob,

I wanted to tell you after our conversation recently about the need to schedule another hospice training on 7/6/2015, an already approved volunteer Ron Alexander is very interested in adding this assignment to his current role, working in immersion therapy.

Ron asked that I share his contact information with you as he is very interested in getting oriented and helping with your important work.
His telephone number is 843-743  His email address is ronreunite@aol.com.

Feel free to contact him and add him to your contact list of potential volunteers.  I have added him to the planned attendees for 7/6/2015 training.

Ron,

Per Laurie Ferguson's note below; I'm sorry to take so long getting to you.

I'm glad to hear you are interested in being a hospice volunteer. We really need the help.

Have you had the hospice training? If not, the next class is scheduled for July 6th. You an contact Laurie to sign up. If you have had the training, I would be glad to meet with you at the CLC and take you around and introduce you to people.

My usual day to visit is Thursday, but I can be flexible with my schedule. Please let me know a day and time that will work for you.

I'll wait to hear from you.

Bob Pearson
Hospice Volunteer Coordinator

Hello Bob, I have not received official "hospice" training though I have worked with life-threatened young adults with Dr. Jerry Jampolsky in California. He was the first Child Psychiatrist to create spiritual support groups for life-threatened children. While in grad. school (Psychological Counseling), I went to him for an internship. He let me know that some of his original "children" were teenagers now and wanted their own group. With Dr. Jampolsky's support, I received a grant and created the Young-adult group. It was the most fulfilling work I have ever had. One of his Clinical staff, Dr. Tom Pinkson was one of the pioneers of the Hospice Movement in the U. S. I was out for a reunion with them last summer in San Francisco.
I do have the training for the VA Peer Support Assistant (WOC) one step above a regular volunteer taking several refreshing courses and lots of tests in security, ethics, confidentiality. This included the much more intensive background check for employees, which I am proud to have passed.
With all of this, of course, I expect to take the "VA" hospice training, and looking forward to the orientation on July 6th. Do we need to meet before then?                                                                 lots of appreciation, Ron Alexander
