Hippie Daze

Born in '44, I was in my prime in those days. Hair on stage was generally done in the nude, even in Miami, where I saw it with two pretty conservative sisters. Fun though, and the movie was able to include more with military shots, etc. I really enjoyed hitchhiking, and I would not accept a ride unless it was a hippie van, where I knew a party was generally going on. Back then, we thought we were part of a rennaissance, and in a way we were - PEACE, LOVE AND HAPPINESS - I thought of myself as a "Flower Child" before the word "hippie" came along. I used to enjoy grass on the weekends and rare hit of very low grade acid. Heavy drugs like "uppers"(amphetamine) and "downers" (qualude) then cocaine really ruined the movement. Many heavy users started calling themselves freaks and they were freakish. I drove for some of them one time, and they became convinced that I was driving upside down and insisted I pull over and right the car. I let them out as quick as I could.  I have not used any drug including grass for over 25 years, except once when I unknownly ate brownies packed with it. I really got unexpectedly the munchies and very close to lady I was with, but did not like the after effects.
